What are your wedding dress price ranges?

At ThistleRose Bridal, we believe every bride deserves a beautiful gown at a price that feels comfortable.

Our collections include:

• Made-to-Order Bridal: $1,600–$4,000 (most brides spend $1,800–$2,500)
• Off-the-Rack Bridal: under $2000
• Made-to-Order Mother of the Occasion: $400–$1,100
• Off-the-Rack Mother of the Occasion: $100-$500
  (Moms receive a special discount when the bride purchases her gown with us!)
• Accessories & Gifts: $20–$600

When should I start shopping for my wedding dress?

We recommend beginning your dress search 10–15 months before your wedding.

Most designer gowns take 5–8 months to arrive, and you'll also want to allow plenty of time for alterations.

Getting married sooner? Don't worry! We offer rush options and beautiful off-the-rack gowns for shorter timelines.

What if my wedding is less than a year away?

You're not too late!

Depending on your timeline, we may recommend:

• Rush ordering with select designers
• Our off-the-rack bridal collection
• Available in-stock gowns 

The sooner you book your appointment, the more options you'll have.

What is the average cost of a wedding dress?

While every bride's budget is different, most ThistleRose brides invest between $1,800 and $2,500 for their made-to-order wedding gown.

We'll always help you stay within your budget while finding a gown you absolutely love. 

What wedding dress sizes do you carry?

We proudly offer a size-inclusive shopping experience.

Our sample gowns range from sizes 4–28, and all our designers offer gowns in an even wider size range.

Every bride deserves to feel beautiful and comfortable while shopping.

Why is my bridal size different from my regular clothing size?

Bridal sizing is very different from everyday clothing.

Most brides order 1–3 sizes larger than the size they typically wear in street clothes. Don't worry—it's completely normal!

Your stylist will take professional measurements and work with you to find the best size for your gown.

Does "made-to-order" mean my dress won't need alterations?

No.

Made-to-order means your gown is ordered in the size that best matches your measurements—it is not custom-made to your exact body.

Almost every bride needs alterations for details like:

• Hemming
• Bust adjustments
• Taking in the waist
• Adding a bustle

We recommend budgeting $400–$900 for alterations.

Do you offer alterations?

We don't have an in-house seamstress, but we've built relationships with talented independent seamstresses throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

We're happy to recommend trusted professionals based on where you live.

Are alterations included in the price of my dress?

No. Alterations are completed separately by an independent seamstress.

Most brides spend $400–$900, depending on the gown and the alterations needed.

What should I bring to my bridal appointment?

We recommend bringing:

• Comfortable, full-coverage undergarments
• A strapless bra if you'd like the extra support
• Shapewear if you plan to wear it on your wedding day (completely optional!)
• Bridal shoes if you already have them (also optional)

Our gowns are made for approximately 5'9", so they'll likely be long during your appointment.

Bring an open mind!

Many brides end up falling in love with a dress they never expected to choose.

Feel free to bring your favorite celebratory drinks or treats, too!

How many people can I bring?

Bring your biggest cheerleaders! The people who will support YOUR bridal vision! 

We comfortably seat up to six guests, not including the bride.

While we recommend keeping your group smaller for the best experience, we don't have a strict guest limit.

Can I come to my appointment alone?

Absolutely!

Many brides shop on their own or with just one trusted guest.

Our experienced stylists will guide you through the process and make sure you feel supported from beginning to end.

What if I don't know what style I want?

You're in good company—most brides don't!

Your stylist will listen to your vision, learn about your wedding, and thoughtfully select gowns that match your style. We may even encourage you to try something outside your comfort zone—you might be surprised by what you fall in love with.

We spend hours each month training and educating ourselves on everything from bridal trends to creating the best experience. You’re in the best hands! Meg, the owner, has styled women and brides for over 20 years! She teaches her knowledge and expertise not only to our team but to other bridal consultants all over the U.S! 

Can I find my wedding dress during my first appointment?

Yes!

Many of our brides say "yes" to their dress during their very first appointment.

There's never any pressure to make a decision before you're ready, but it's completely normal to find your dress sooner than expected.

We'll talk about your wedding, your vision, and your budget before selecting gowns together.

Your appointment is completely private in our one of our bridal suites, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the experience without feeling rushed.

We are open by appointment only to ensure every bride receives our full attention.

Appointments are available every day except Wednesdays, and you can easily schedule online through our website.

Can I take pictures during my appointment?

Absolutely!

We encourage photos so you can look back on your favorite moments after your appointment.

Can I bring drinks?

Yes!

You're welcome to bring champagne, coffees, or your favorite celebratory beverages to enjoy during your appointment.
